Captain Spicer's Featured Artist
Our featured artist is Colleen Gipson. Colleen has worked at Louisville Stoneware
Co. since 1982. In 1984, she began painting the first custom pieces of stoneware for
Captain Spicer's Gallery.
As a self-taught artist she enjoys her job to the fullest. She is inspired by the joy her stoneware brings to her customers and considers it a gift of labor, that can be passed down for generations. She also enjoys sculpting, drawing and teaching her four grandchildren.
During Colleen's years of service at Louisville Stoneware Co. she has gone beyond
the standard art designing and created designs solely for Captain Spicer's, with
much pride. The Boldt Castle. Thousand Island Park and 1000 Island Sunset are
several of her custom designs.
All of her designs have been inspired by visits to the River, as a guest of Ken and Karen.
